All the Innuendo, Half the Fact

Updated: Aug 1, 2020

When I began my blog, Fragrant Liar, in 2009, I wanted to be part of an online community that might have things in common with me. Though I kept it well under wraps, my entry into midlife was rather traumatic, like a temblor that never stopped, a daily reminder that my life was changing before my eyes, despite my objections.

I knew mine were not like the experiences of any of the women in my family before me, because every generation is different. As a writer, my first and best instincts were to write about them—then, and now. While I still post occasionally to Fragrant Liar, keeping up is a lot harder now because life remains fast evolving. But a lot of me is archived there, and I didn't want it fading into oblivion. Maybe that's emblematic of the whole "getting older" thing. As June Carter Cash once said, "I'm just trying to matter."

So, I compiled my best-loved posts into a book and added a few to the mix. All the Innuendo, Half the Fact is comprised of 42 witty missives, repurposed and polished for a new audience—and for my old audience, some of the posts you said had you snorting coffee out your nose.

I start with "The Sag Zone" and end with "All By Myself," which seems apropos of so many things. In between, I recount my misadventures with Spanx, the joys of urodynamics, burning my "G" spot, hilarious convos with my adult kids, my inexplicable love of buttfloss, and more. It's all in there—sex, love, family, motherhood and, oh yeah, midlife.

All the Innuendo, Half the Fact is available now on Amazon.

Loving my cover, too. What do you think? Need a professional cover for your book? Check out Louis Rakovich at Indigo Forest Designs.
